8 days to go…

by DULBC Captain on April 8, 2009

It is so exciting that in just over a week Colours will be upon us once again. It does not seem that long ago that we were sitting on the start line of last year’s race, surrounded by the hype, roaring and cheering of supporters and passers-by on O’Connell Bridge.

This year the race will have a different feel to it as we are now racing from the Sean O’Casey bridge for 2000m out past the East Link Bridge. This course can be seen to be fairer than the historic course that ran from O’Connell Bridge to Heuston. The new course is completely straight, with no tactical advantages for different stages of the race depending on what station you are given.

After two days of seating racing in Islandbridge two weekends ago, the Corcoran Cup senior women’s crew has been selected. It is a young crew, with only two of the oarswomen having raced Senior Colours before.
